Grill?

Does anyone know if there is a grill in or around Garfield Park? We've got the late game tonight and are hoping to have some BBQ first. Please comment here if you know of any, thanks.

  1. There is definately at least one hibatchi in the park, near the courts. You'll need to bring charcoal. Hope this gets to you in time (if you'll have enough for me)!

  2. I am a neighbor of Garfield Park where you all play on Tuesdays and I walk my dog there twice a day - Ilove how much you enjoy the park, BUT I want to offer some constructive criticism about the trash that you leave behind. Garbage blows/falls out of overflowing trashcans and makes our park an unsightly mess until people clean up after you. Trash is picked up on Tuesdays, so we have to live with the mess for many days.

I am amzed that a group of people with a median age of about 25 don't take the beer cans you brought home with you to recycle. When you leave them in the park, they are not recycled. Aluminum is a highl;y valuable metal to recyclers - and it's a non-renewable resource. Since you are willing to carry the cans full of beer with you, please carry them home empty and recycle.

I don't know how to contact the leader s of your organization, but I hope someone who reads this will make sure they see it, and use their influence to communicate this message to your membership at large.

Play on, have a good time, and leave a light footprint for the planet.

  3. Everyone is supposed to be responsible about cleaning up for themselves. The league stresses it over and over. I would hope everyone who plays bocce would be responsible enough to manage that.

  4. Yes, we should recycle!

Also, this week I noticed that there isn't a hibatchi in the park. Hope that didn't post a problem for anyone!!
