Reel in $1,000 Prize, Enjoy a Rooftop Party

Can you steal the scene at Capture, the grand opening premiere for Park Place Apartments? Enter the Capture DC Life short film contest for a chance to win a $1,000 grand prize. Finalists will be screened and winners announced on October 8th at Capture–the rooftop party to celebrate the grand opening of Park Place Apartments at Petworth Metro. The event is open to all so come take in the sights, sounds and libations, and help choose a winning film! "Capture" is sponsored by Stella Artois, Ketel One Vodka, On Tap Magazine, and the DC Shorts Film Festival...all of which will be well represented at the rooftop party (there's even a bocce green lawn). Visit www.CaptureDCLife.com to RSVP and for full details.

If you're an aspiring film maker here are the details: we are looking for short films, 1 to 5 minutes in length that capture your unique perspective on life in DC. To submit your short film on DC life, and for all contest details, please visit www.CaptureDCLife.com. Deadline for submission is September 25th.

  2. Anonymous - no, the movie doesn't have to be about bocce...just has to be about or take place in DC.

Rob - it's a blog...no one said it was all about bocce...that's what the website is for. you want us to take down the 9/11 volunteering post as well?

  3. seriously john? the 9/11 volunteering was a group set up for the dc bocce league.

if the blog doesn't have to be about bocce, why was my pepsi post taken down?

  4. ...because you just posted a giant Pepsi logo and wrote "drink Pepsi".

To clarify, the post was edited a while ago stating that DC Bocce is a sponsor of the contest and event. The hope is that despite the time constraint someone will use bocce in a short film submission, and that others will join the league at the event.

  7. Why are my DC Bocce dues being used to sponsor a film festival (if that is in fact what you mean by the festival being sponsored by DC Bocce).

If that is the case, that is not cool. DC Bocce was about helping charities whilst having fun. If we have enough $ to sponsor random groups that referees work for, I think you need to consider increasing the amounts given to charities.

  8. Rob - I've been working on that today...it should be up soon.

Anonymous #2 - It's called word of mouth, and all it costs is the time of the people running the league. DC Bocce is about many things, charities included, and sometimes it is about promoting bocce. We are working on expanding both this offseason. You can come to the party on the 8th, you can work on a film for fun, to promote a charity, or to showcase bocce or DC. Or you can do none of those things. The purpose of this is to get the word out, and the film contest and event are a good way to reach people.
